GetShopSync vs Apimio

Apimio is the closest commercial neighbour to GetShopSync: Shopify-native, mid-market, published pricing. It also does three things GetShopSync does not, and they are the three you will notice first.

The short answer

Apimio is a Shopify-native PIM at USD 199 a month for 1 000 SKUs, installable in one click from the Shopify App Store with a 14-day free trial. GetShopSync Starter is R2 500 a month for 2 500 SKUs — cheaper in rand with 2.5 times the capacity — and captures product data directly from supplier websites, which Apimio does not do. Apimio is easier to start; GetShopSync solves the acquisition problem.

Where Apimio wins

  • One-click install from the Shopify App Store

Apimio is listed and installable in a click. GetShopSync is not listed, and connection to your Shopify store is handled during setup by a person. If you want to try something this afternoon without talking to anybody, Apimio wins outright.

  • You can connect your own store, today

Per-store connection works in Apimio now. In GetShopSync it is on the roadmap and is handled as part of onboarding until it ships. This is our most significant product gap and we are not going to bury it.

  • A 14-day free trial

No conversation required. GetShopSync offers a 30-day pilot with a named sponsor and agreed success criteria, which is more thorough and considerably less convenient.

  • Internationalisation and a brand portal

Apimio supports multi-language catalogues and ships a brand portal. GetShopSync supports neither. If you sell into more than one language market, this decides it.

Where GetShopSync wins

  • Two and a half times the SKU capacity, for less money

GetShopSync Starter is R2 500 a month for 2 500 SKUs. Apimio Basic is USD 199 — about R3 300 — for 1 000. That is roughly 24 percent cheaper with 2.5 times the capacity, at today's exchange rate.

  • It captures product data from supplier websites

Paste a supplier product URL and get a structured draft record with specifications, images and datasheets. Apimio has no equivalent. For a distributor whose data is on somebody else's site, this is the difference between a tool and a solution.

  • Over 100 supplier sites configured, and you can add more

The vendor-configuration corpus is the part that takes years to build. Configure a manufacturer once and every subsequent product from them costs almost nothing to load.

  • Rand pricing and South African support

Apimio bills in dollars. At USD 199 a month, a ten percent rand move is about R330 a month you did not agree to. GetShopSync is priced, invoiced and supported here.

  • AI spend metered and hard-capped

Captures are metered per catalogue against a token and a rand limit, warned at 80% and stopped at 100%. No metered AI pricing was found published for Apimio at the access date.

The question that decides it

If you want to be running by lunchtime and your product data already exists, install Apimio. If the reason your catalogue is not growing is that somebody has to open a supplier website and retype four hundred products, Apimio does not address that and GetShopSync does. Be honest about which of those two sentences describes your business.

Common questions

Is GetShopSync cheaper than Apimio?
Yes at the entry tier. GetShopSync Starter is R2 500 a month for 2 500 SKUs; Apimio Basic is USD 199 a month — about R3 300 at USD 1 = ZAR 16.70 — for 1 000 SKUs. That is roughly 24 percent cheaper with 2.5 times the SKU capacity, though the rand comparison moves with the exchange rate.
Is GetShopSync on the Shopify App Store?
No. Apimio is listed and installs in one click; GetShopSync is not listed, and your Shopify store is connected during setup. Connecting your own store from inside the application is on the roadmap.
Does Apimio capture product data from supplier websites?
No metered AI capture from supplier URLs was found published by Apimio at the access date. Apimio provides data validations, an image quality score, CSV management and bulk editing — all of which operate on data you already have.
Can I try GetShopSync free?
Not as a self-serve trial. There is a 30-day pilot with a capped number of captures, a named sponsor on your side and success criteria agreed before it starts. Apimio offers a 14-day free trial with no conversation required.
