GetShopSync is a product information management system. It holds one authoritative record for every product you sell, governs who may change it, measures whether it is complete, and publishes it to your storefront. Built for catalogues assembled from many suppliers — where the data arrives incomplete, in different shapes, from sources that were never designed to be read by a machine.
Every capability below is running today unless it is marked as roadmap.
01 · PRODUCT CATALOGUE

A structured, auditable record for every product you sell — and the full history of how it got that way.
The problem
Product data ends up in a spreadsheet that gets copied, emailed and edited until nobody knows which version is current.
When a price or specification is wrong on the storefront, there is no way to find out who changed it or when.
What it does
- A structured record per product — SKU, title, short and long descriptions, additional information, images, datasheets, brand, category and status.
- Rich text editing for long descriptions, so product pages are not plain paragraphs.
- Custom fields you define — typed, and scoped to a catalogue, a category or a single product.
- Full change history. Every edit saves the complete previous state of the record, attributed to the person who made it.
- Notes on any product, so the conversation about a product lives on the product.
- Filtered views by brand, category, batch or catalogue, and a missing-data report.
- Image cropping before upload.
- A single approval step between draft and publishable.

02 · COMPLETENESS & DATA QUALITY

The problem
Everyone knows the catalogue has gaps. Nobody can say how many, where they are, or whether last quarter’s cleanup helped.
Without a measure, the work is infinite and progress is invisible.
What it does
- Define what complete means — for your business, per catalogue and per category. An image, a datasheet, a long description, additional information, and any custom field you require.
- Score any product and get a percentage plus the named list of missing fields.
- Score a whole batch after onboarding, before anything is published.
- Score an entire brand in the background, with progress you can watch.
- Custom fields count. A field you invented for your category is required data, and it is scored like every built-in field.
- See it on the dashboard. Completeness across a catalogue and per brand, so you know where to send the effort.

03 · ROLES, AUDIT & COST CONTROL
LiveWho did what, and what it cost.
Five permission levels per catalogue, a complete audit trail, and product capacity you control.
The problem
Catalogue software usually arrives with two permission levels and no memory. Everyone can change everything, and when something is wrong there is no record of how it got that way.
Add AI to that and you have a bill nobody can predict.
What it does
- Permissions. Five levels, assigned per catalogue: Shop User, Shop Manager, Account User, Account Owner, Super Admin. A user with access to one catalogue cannot see another.
- Account scope. Account-level users see every catalogue in their own account and nothing beyond it.
- Audit. Every edit saves the complete previous state of the record, with the person and the time.
- Product notes keep the discussion attached to the product rather than in someone’s inbox.
- Capacity control. Plans include a product allowance. Additional capacity is R199 per batch of 500 products. AI model spend sits on your Claude API key, not our invoice.
- Usage reporting per catalogue and per account, so you can see which supplier onboarding cost what.
- Identity. Sign-in is handled by Clerk. GetShopSync never stores your password.

04 · BATCH ONBOARDING
LiveA supplier range is one job, not four hundred.
Upload a supplier’s SKU list and watch the whole range come in, with per-row failure reasons you can act on.
The problem
Signing a new supplier should be good news. Instead it means somebody has a spreadsheet of four hundred part numbers and a month of evenings ahead.
Halfway through, nobody can say how far along it is or what has failed.
What it does
- Upload a CSV of SKUs and supplier URLs to create a batch.
- Capture the whole batch in one operation, running in the background.
- Watch it happen. Live counts of captured, failed and remaining, updating as it runs.
- Per-row failure reasons. Not “37 failed” — which 37, and why.
- Retry failures in bulk once a supplier site is reachable or a configuration is added.
- Import SKUs into an existing batch as a supplier extends their range.
- Approve a whole batch at once when the data is right.
- Assign a batch to a catalogue, so a supplier onboarding stays a unit of work you can point at.

05 · AI DATA CAPTURE
LiveStop typing product data.
The slowest part of running a catalogue is getting the data in the first place. GetShopSync reads your suppliers’ product pages and turns them into structured records.
The problem
Your suppliers publish everything you need — descriptions, specifications, images, datasheets — on their own websites. None of it is in a format you can use. So somebody opens a browser and starts copying. Twenty to forty minutes a product, every product, forever.
Generic tools do not help, because every supplier’s website is built differently. What works on one manufacturer’s site returns an empty field on the next.
What it does
- Capture from a URL. Paste a supplier product page. Get a title, short description, long description, specifications, images and datasheets as a structured draft record.
- Preview before you commit. Run a capture and see the result without writing anything to your catalogue.
- Five extraction methods, chosen automatically. Static pages, JavaScript-heavy pages and awkward layouts each get the method that works.
- Over 100 supplier sites already configured. Selectors, URL patterns and field mappings for the manufacturers technical distributors actually buy from.
- Add your own suppliers. Configure any site not already covered, by domain, with per-brand overrides.
- Files come to your storage. Images and datasheets are pulled into storage you control, so your catalogue no longer depends on supplier links.
- Re-capture any time. Refresh a product from its supplier URL when the manufacturer updates the specification.
- Failures are visible. Anything that does not capture is recorded with the reason, and can be retried in bulk.

06 · SHOPIFY PUBLISHING
LiveApproved data, on the storefront.
Push enriched products to Shopify, pull products back, and keep datasheet links that do not break.
The problem
Enriching data is only worth something once it reaches customers.
That usually means retyping it into Shopify admin, or a CSV import that overwrites a field somebody spent a week on.
GetShopSync publishes to Shopify. WooCommerce, Magento and BigCommerce are not supported today. Connecting your own Shopify store from inside the application is on the roadmap — until then, connection is handled as part of setup.
What it does
- Sync a single product to Shopify by SKU or by product.
- Sync a whole batch after a supplier onboarding.
- Pull from Shopify. List products that exist in Shopify but not in GetShopSync, and bring them in.
- Import a Shopify range into a batch to enrich products you already sell.
- Check status. Compare what GetShopSync holds against what Shopify shows.
- Set back to draft when a product should come off the storefront.
- Datasheet links that survive. Datasheets are served from your storage through permanent links, so a supplier reorganising their site does not break your product pages.
- Export to CSV with live progress on large catalogues.
